Most men love having a space of their own, a place where
they can put their feet up and relax after a long, hard day at work. Often
referred to as “man caves” or “man sanctuaries,” these special rooms have been
popular for many years. Recently, however, they’ve gone a little more high-end
and sophisticated. Gone are the neon beer signs and pool tables, and in their
place is something more classy and modern...still with lots of room to account
for personal taste.
Many men, for example, are creating “media rooms.” These are
rooms designed for watching movies and television programs and for listening to
music. Touches like theater-sized screens, projectors, speakers, and sound
systems are common.
For those who aren’t movie buffs but who have other
interests, “hobby rooms” are all the rage these days. Hobby rooms are the
perfect spots for putting together model cars, setting up elaborate train sets,
painting pictures, or doing just about anything else a man could want. They can
be designed according to any hobbyist’s exact specifications.
These aren’t the only options either. Men who love to read
can create large libraries, complete with reading nooks. Drink enthusiasts can
create their own private bars, with real beer taps and other extras.
There really is no limit to what the “man cave” looks like
these days. Men are simply being encouraged to create spaces that appeal to
them in every possible way, including visually. While decorating and room
design were once thought of as “women’s work,” that’s all changing. Now, men
are seeing that it’s perfectly okay (and even fun!) to create their dream
spaces.
